Well, we're just hanging out today here in Special Care, so I thought I'd give a quick update. Not much is going on. Max has been pretty slow to take bottles today, so they are having to tube feed most of his meals. He also got Thrush - a yeast infection in his mouth. He is taking meds to clear it up, but it has slowed down his bottle feeding. We hope to get him eating more from a bottle in a day or two when it clears up.
I talked to the doctor this morning. It looks like we will be here for at least a week or so longer. Max has to have 2 days of only bottle feeding (8 bottles) before we can leave and he currently is only getting 4 partial bottles down. The dr. said that it usually will take babies to their 37 week date to get it all figured out. He was born at 34 weeks, so we have a little ways to go.
Adam and I are taking baby CPR tonight. It will be nice to see Adam. With his flu, we haven't gotten a chance to spend much time as a family.
Thanks for checking in on us,
Paige, Adam & Max
Aww man! Thrush sucks. I spoke to a friend of mine yesterday at book club and she had such interesting things to say about her babies. All 3 of hers were in NICU, and all 3 weighed around 3 pounds. Two were twins. She had a tough time with breastfeeding as well. She thought it might be helpful if you call her and you two could chat. Let me know if you want me to pass along her number. I know the hours get long over there. I'm thinking of you! We all love you and can't wait to be neighbors again!
ReplyDeletePaige - I got your email on my blackbery and only am just now looking at it and the blog on my laptop. WOW! I'm glad he's doing better and that Adam is too. Hang in there! Call if you need anything at all and give Max a gentle squeeze from us. love, Deidra & Loren
